Harlequin Productions is a professional not-for-profit theater company in Olympia, Washington, dedicated to the creation of stimulating and enriching theatrical experiences by producing an eclectic season of new works, "buried treasures" and unconventional treatments of classics. Through a dynamic selection of extraordinary material, we explore the human adventure in search of theatrical magic that stretches the mind, nourishes the soul, and inspires human empathy.
Established in 1991, Harlequin Productions is a professional, not-for-profit theater company in Olympia, Washington. Our mission is grounded in a commitment to high-quality theater productions that excite, challenge, and enrich theater artists and audiences alike by exploring a wide variety of projects, interpretations, and themes. We own our 200 seat, excellently equipped theater and offer a seven show year-round season of eclectic production selections ranging from classics to modern and our own original works. Our productions of Shakespeare's plays are among the most popular and fully produced of the region, employing inventive concepts, original music, and adventurous designs. In addition to Shakespeare, American classics, and at least two original musicals developed and produced by the company each season, we offer new and contemporary works. In 2009, an annual collaboration with Israel Horovitz was started with the playwright in residence during the process. In twenty seasons we have produced over 100 shows, about 30 percent of these have been world, west coast or northwest premieres.
