Edgar Martinez brings charity to Olympia at Governor Hotel Event

Olympia, WA– The Governor Hotel kicked off the launch of their new website at www.governorhoteloly.com with a charity event hosted by beloved Seattle Mariner Edgar Martinez, Gene Juarez and La Plaza International.  The new business started two years ago when Martinez and his business partners, including Gene Juarez of Gene Juarez Salons, acquired the U.S. import rights to El Zacatecano, a relative of tequila called mezcal.

About 220 people attended the event, including city and county officials, as well as state lawmakers. There also was gambling – with fake money but real dealers – and the event was catered by Mijas, an 18-month-old restaurant in Olympia that has ties to SafePlace, a nonprofit that provides shelter and support to victims of domestic violence. Working at the restaurant helps the women earn money, learn job skills and build self-esteem.

Organizers hoped an auction would raise $2,000, Governor Hotel General Manager Sandra Miller said.

The Governor Hotel’s new website showcases the iconic hotel’s location, amenities and fabulous location in downtown Olympia’s central business district.  The new site features video of the hotel and surrounding beauty along with the hotel’s close access to the state Capitol campus.  The news site also features social media including Facebook and Twitter applications along with technology that allows meeting and event planners the ability to request RFP’s online.  Visit the new site at www.governorhoteloly.com
