Olympic Flight Museum
Capitol Way to Old Hwy 99, 1 mile past Tumwater Blvd. on the
right. Experience the sights, sounds, smells and excitement of flight.
The museum was founded with the goal of bringing people together to
relive, recollect, and learn about aviation history. Features include
museum gift shop, artifacts, exhibits, warbird rides, and a winter
lecture series.
Tumwater Historic Park
I-5 South to exit 103, left on Deschutes Way, right on
Simmons Rd. A 15-acre park featuring fishing, a canoe launch, playground
equipment, and nature trails. The story of the beginnings of American
settlement on Puget Sound is told through interpretive markers located
throughout the park.
Wolf Haven International
I-5 South to exit 99, left to Old Hwy 99, right to Offut Lake
Rd., A non-profit educational and scientific corporation founded in
1982, Wolf Haven International provides homes for more than 40 wolves
that cannot live in the wild. Wolf Haven also participates in the
Mexican Wolf Recovery program which reintroduces wolves to the wild in
the southwestern United States and Mexico.
Priest Point Park
North on Capitol Way, right on 4th Ave., left on East Bay
Drive. The park is approximately 2 miles on right. Largest urban forest
in the state of Washington. Beach access, play equipment, hiking trails.
Nisqually National
Wildlife Refuge
100 Brown Farm Rd., Olympia. Visitors enjoy hiking, wildlife
observation and photography, fishing and environmental education
opportunities year-round. The refuge is open during daylight hours, and
a daily entrance fee is charged. The visitor center, open
Wednesday-Sunday, features exhibits, a bookstore and more.
Old Capitol Building
600 S. Washington St., SE, Olympia. This renovated building,
first opened in 1892, served as the Washington State Capitol from 1901
to 1928. Self-guided tours are available weekdays.
Monarch Sculpture Park
8431 Waldrick Rd., SE, Olympia. The lush gardens and maze
showcase more than 100 sculptures created by regional, national and
international artists. Open year-round from dawn to dusk entrance fee by
donation.
